It is a good decision to have chosen NEET PG Self-preparation rather than Coaching Class Preparation. Though advantages of coaching classes are myriad, at the end of the day, it is you who have to study. The coaching classes indeed give you direction, notes, and strategies but whether or not you are able to put those strategies to use is not certain. If you have decided to study on your own, the path ahead is not going to be easy, but if you endeavor to implement the below rules, you will surely be in a position to clear NEET PG Exam without the assistance from Coaching Classes.

1. How strong are you with the NEET PG Syllabus and the Exam Pattern?

The Mecial PG Entrance exam syllabus outlines 19 subjects, most of which a student studies during MBBS. It is imperative that you divide the subjects into blocks by clubbing similar topics together. This helps you save time and devise a strategy taking into account your own strengths and weaknesses. Also be aware of the amount of much weightage each topic carries.

2. Goal Setting

If you have opted for self-study, it is important that you start early and set a goal, explicitly stating deadlines. The completion of syllabus requires some dedicated hours of study. It is best to have given one full reading, followed by three revisions before the exam. This not only builds your confidence but also enhances your grip on the topic. Calculate the time in hand and divide it with respect to the subjects you would be taking up on the following days. Here’s a Sample:

Quick tip: Start with an easy subject.

3. Organize your Study time with a Planned Strategy and Time Table

Develop the practice of maintaining a diary with well-defined areas of the list of things done and the ‘to do’ items. This will help you keep track of where your preparation has reached so far. As the syllabus for any Medical Entrance exam is endless, it is difficult to remember the topics left. Many times, students miss up on certain topics due to this habit. Thus, when attempting to study by yourself it is extremely important for a student to be well organized. Also, following a timetable and accomplishing daily goals set by you, in stipulated time gives you a sense of achievement.

4. Self-Prepared Notes

After completing your first reading, it is important that you give at least three revisions. But you cannot afford to re-read the big-fat medical guides during revision due to the dearth of time. Here the importance of having notes comes into play. Experts say that making notes during the first reading not only helps you retain the medical jargon, but they also come handy during revision time. Reading from your own notes helps you connect the dots easily and effectively. Also, refrain from studying any new books during revision time.

5. One Mock Test a week

Experts advise students to attempt as many mock tests as possible. More than hard work, smart work and your presence of mind come into play when you are taking a NEET PG Exam. Experts suggest that students should be accustomed to the high octane atmosphere of a Computer-based test (CBT) well before the exam.

6. Online Test Series

If you have opted for self-study, it is best to evaluate yourself by enrolling yourself to numerous test series. This will not only instill confidence in you but will also help you to find out where you stand among the competition. You can check your scores and compare them with other candidates to see where you stand and improve your ranking thereafter.

7. Identify your Weakness

Qualifying these Exams requires a well-charted strategy. The students are thus advised to strengthen their weak areas and clear their doubts, way before the exam. Essentially, the right time to do this is before you start with your first reading.

8. Are you cheating others or yourself?

Stick by your timetable. Do not use short-cuts or cheat codes as they will adversely affect your preparation. Be honest with yourself to stay dedicated and motivated. As you have no one to guide you, you need to double-check and ensure that you are not wasting your time in some frivolous activity.

9. Stress not

De-stress and stay calm byways to suit your needs. The more you stress, the more the chances of you messing is. Just approach the exam with a de-cluttered mind and relax. Take requisite braes in between and do not overburden yourself. Challenge your limits but do not get succumbed by them.
